An initial study targeted £900K to redevelop the premises of the community music and education charity More Music. This became unattainable in the economic climate but the team were determined to realise the vision and worked tirelessly to challenge design decisions, retain and re-use building elements wherever possible, innovate with materials and adjust details and finishes accordingly. These efforts were rewarded in 2012 when the 500sqm redevelopment was completed for around one third of the original budget. The scheme provides a new main entrance, box office, admin centre and events foyer ‘hub’ from where all studios are accessed, while upstairs a new performance space, green room, bar, kitchen and toilets were created.
