Practice directors Steve Pexton and Oliver James trained together at Newcastle University before taking different paths for the early years of their architectural careers. Steve returned to his Yorkshire roots and Oliver spent nine years working in London. In 2011, they were reunited in Harrogate where they spent six years working closely at local practice Seven Architecture, gaining further outstanding experience. SPX Architects was formed in 2016, borne out of a shared vision to design and deliver high quality buildings and well considered interventions for open-minded clients in both the public and private sectors from a creative and friendly studio environment. SPX test options and assist with project viability before preparing schemes for Planning, Building Control, pricing and ultimately construction.
