Planning approval was gained for this multi-phase, 3,000sqm extension and refurbishment scheme for the Police Treatment Centres, providing a new main entrance, fully-equipped treatment pool, hydrotherapy pool, spinning studio, patient relaxation areas and staff offices, together with an extended dining hall and refurbished sports hall,  gymnasium, physiotherapy department and complementary therapy suites. The extensions are of single-storey construction, using traditional vernacular materials of the area and incorporating solar thermal panels and CHP (combined heat and power) technology. A series of pitched and mono-pitched roofs vary the internal spatial volumes and create opportunities for clear-storey glazing to allow natural light into deeper plan spaces.
