THE COTTON MILL

This Grade II Listed Victorian structure was built in the 1870’s and formed part of the impressive Belle Vue Mills complex, an integral part of the regional success in cotton manufacturing and still a dominant presence in Skipton’s heritage landscape. The SPX team achieved Planning Consents for the detailed design of a new main entrance and cut-away roof terraces, and the re-design of the 39-apartment scheme to provide improved communal areas, larger living spaces and greater net to gross areas. In his previous practice, Steve Pexton was Project Architect for the adjacent schemes to convert a Grade II Listed warehouse to eleven

apartments, to create an extension/conversion for a new Majestic Wine warehouse, and to design a 33-unit new-build block for retirement apartment developers McCarthy & Stone.
